Dear Students, Faculty, and Administrators:

The Student Government Association is currently preparing for the 2008 Student Leadership Dinner, which will take place on Thursday, May 1, 2008. This annual dinner recognizes the accomplishments of students, departments, administrators and staff members who have made significant contributions to the Barnard community.

We are asking for your help to make this event a success. We invite you to nominate students, departments, administrators, and staff members you believe deserve to be honored at this year's dinner. Students currently studying abroad are also eligible. Please tell us how they have significantly contributed to the Barnard and University community. The following criteria should serve as a guideline when making your selections:

Student Nominees

• Assume leadership roles and contribute significantly within the Barnard College and/or University community
• Demonstrates leadership through commitment, service, level of involvement, responsibility, motivation and inspiration
• Take initiative in extracurricular activities
• Maintain good academic standing
• Must be a Barnard student

Bear Pin Nominees (Barnard's Highest Student Government Award)

• Must be graduating seniors
• Meets the criteria for Student Nominees throughout her time at Barnard

Millicent C. McIntosh Award Nominees

• Awardees have demonstrated above and beyond dedication to student activities and the campus community
• One student leader from each class year is honored for her proven community-building leadership and commitment to Barnard
• Assumes leadership positions in multiple types of activities and organizations
• Meets the criteria for Student Nominees throughout her time at Barnard

Club Nominees

• Please nominate SGA clubs that have distinguished themselves through an event, outreach, or programming, serving as a model for leadership and demonstrting initiative
• Awardees will be chosen on the basis of their contributions specifically to the Barnard College community. In your nominations, it is important to emphasize their work on Barnard's campus or for our student body
• Awards will be given in the following categories:
  Cultural
  Academic/Pre-professional
  Performance
  Special Interest
• Nominated clubs must be SGA recognized, including those that are dually recognized. Clubs self identify and fall into the category of which they consider themselves a member.

Administrative/Academic Department Nominees

• Provide exemplary service to students and make a significant impact on student life

Administrator Nominees

• Provide exemplary service to students
• Contribute to the Barnard community beyond the responsibilities of his/her position
• Show commitment to issues relevant to the Barnard community

Staff Nominees

• Provide exemplary service to students
• Contribute to the Barnard community beyond the responsibilities of his/her position
• Show commitment to issues relevant to the Barnard community

The Student Leadership Dinner is an important tradition at Barnard and your participation in the nomination process will help us to continue to uphold this legacy.
